Our Duty

While the media conceals the truth, and governments avert their eyes, the killing, maiming, and destruction continue. In Gaza, a genocide unfolds in sight of the entire world. In the rest of Palestine scores are being killed and dispossessed daily.

As documentary filmmakers, we put our knowledge and expertise in the service of story-telling, in hopes that more and more people begin to recognize the historical injustice that has been ongoing for decades and the continuing horror and criminality being inflicted on Palestinians.

Starting from the story of one individual, albeit an exceptional person, we tell the story of what it is like to be Palestinian, living in a state of permanent passion for a homeland and a life that could and should have been.

Ghassan Abu-Sittah’s strong sense of obligation requires us to confront the undeniable truth that we all have a duty to reject inaction in the face of injustice.

Our Mission

Our campaign is built around the principle that we all have a part to play, a voice among the masses, and a responsibility to actualize the two goals one step at a time.

Our campaign will involve multiple activities set to achieve different goals including: empowering and mobilizing medical students to uphold ethical principles and take action against violations on protected medical infrastructure in conflict zone; amplifying survivor testimonies, like Ghassan’s, to document and bear witness to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, considering the broader human impact will take decades to address; challenging the narrative that the conflict began on October 7th by highlighting the long-standing history of human rights violations and the urgency of addressing root causes; raising awareness and advocating through education for the protection of healthcare workers and facilities in conflict zones, emphasizing their essential role and the legal consequences of targeting them; and finally raising funds for the “Ghassan Abu-Sittah Children’s Fund” offering medical treatment to war-injured Gazan and Lebanese children.

The Path Ahead

The audience reception of the film has highlighted its potential to encourage deeper and more meaningful conversations around genocide, humanitarian law, and injustice, that would ultimately inspire action. With this momentum, we hope to collaborate with more organizations, advocacy groups, collectives, festivals and institutions in order to take the film’s narrative further to mold paths of active change.
